A way to purchase a print
Over the many months of this blog people have sometimes asked if they could buy a print of one of my photographs. I didn’t have a mechanism in place, but now I do. If you go to
http://steven-schwartzman.pixels.com/
you’ll find that any image on the various pages there is available not only as a photographic print but also as a greeting card, bag, pillow, phone case, and even shower curtain.
Great idea, Steve. For me, beholding an image on a piece of fine paper I can hold in my hand seems to bring the experience of the subject a step closer to encountering it in its original glory. A generational thing, I suspect, and all in the mind . . .

How appropriate: Beeholdn on the subject of beholding. I spent decades in photography when the primary way to experience a photograph was as a print, and secondarily as a projected image from a transparency. Now, after 15 years of working in digital photography, I’ve gotten really used to seeing my images on a bright computer screen. I’ve slowly been compiling some e-books, but with this new outlet people who want prints can have them.

Thanks for your yay, Melissa. You’ll recognize some of the images at FAA but others have never appeared in my blog.

Excellent Steve! You have some wonderful photos. I hope you’re selling lots! ;O)

Thanks, J.M. The fact that just about everyone has a camera or a phone these days makes it hard for photographers to sell their work, but some still make a living that way. My primary commercial outlet has been magazines.

LOL…I doubt you’ll see too many smartphone pix on FAA! Often some promotions to people you know can make a difference. Good luck! Best regards, Janina.
PS: I see you’ve been close to Oz recently. I’ve enjoyed your NZ pix. You’d have great fun with Aussie plants and animals, that’s for sure.

My one visit to Australia was in 2005, and it was for a wedding, so I didn’t have much chance to go out in nature and explore in the way I would have liked to, as you saw me doing in New Zealand. Let’s hope I make it back to Australia, and this time as a photographer. With the weather in central Texas for the past three weeks, I’ve been closer to the Oz of the Wizard than to the Oz you meant.

Weather and the Wiz, all I can say is I’m glad I don’t live in Tornado Alley/Hurricane regions of the U.S. I’d move house very quickly to somewhere a lot quieter!

You’re right (I hope!) about there not being smartphone pictures on FAA, but many people feel (rightly or wrongly) that they can take good pictures themselves and therefore have no need to buy someone else’s.

I don’t think like that! I always appreciate wonderful work from others…
