From Little Manly Beach early on the morning of February 27, my last day in New Zealand, here are a few pōhutukawa trees, Metrosideros excelsa, sprawling off a layered bluff and out over the flat-rocked shore.

Dynamic Early Morning Clouds 8364

The pleasant Georgia-O’Keeffe-esque cumulus clouds that I saw from Auckland’s One Tree Hill on the afternoon of February 26th gave way to these dynamic, partly wispy, sunrise-tinged ones above Little Manly Beach early on the morning of the 27th.

New Zealand: Last morning in the country

On February 27th I got up early and walked the few blocks down to Little Manly Beach, where I photographed the sun rising over the Hauraki Gulf.
