In other places where we drove a few days later the pink evening primroses had fully opened. I’m still hoping to see a huge colony somewhere.

I can’t help laughing; we’ve done it again, although you went horizontal and I went vertical with today’s photo. I really enjoy the way the stigma peeks out of these buds; it makes me smile every time.

I just saw your post and caught the synchronicity, only you outdid me by three buds. I also noticed you made it down to the Rockport Cemetery, which I hope will have been the source of many more pictures.

Beautiful macro image, Steve. I love the colors, and those edges of the new petals.

Merci. Pink evening primrose buds have fascinated me for some time now. Having the phlox in the background was a bonus.

Wonderful indeed the way this flower gets rolled into a long bud the way it does.

I wonder about the background you used for the pink primrose.

Mostly I’ve photographed pink evening primrose buds in Austin, where the species is common. Phlox doesn’t grow in Austin, so when I found a pink evening primrose bud in a neighboring county where phlox is common, it was an opportunity for a differently colored background from what’s normally available to me.
