Winging our way out of 2016
As we go winging our way out of 2016, here’s a symbol of that from November 3rd at the Piedras Blancas Elephant Seal Rookery in San Simeon, California. I take the bird to be a western gull, Larus occidentalis.

Que le chemin de l’année 2017 soit parsemé d’éclats de joie, de pétales de plaisir, qu’il soit éclairé par la lueur de l’amour et l’étincelle de l’amitié. Bonne et heureuse année !

Likewise to you and your family, Jude. I’m still on a roll posting pictures from the October-November trip to the Southwest. We definitely plan to travel some more in 2017, beginning as soon as February. Hope you’ll be on the move again too.

If you’re going to be winging away again as soon as February, this is the perfect image to carry you into the New Year. Wishing you and Eve all the best in 2017, and wishing you a surfeit of pleasing photographic opportunities.

Thanks, Linda. I’ll aim to stay fit for that surfeit. In return, I wish you happy travels in the coming year as well. You have a knack for getting to know people near and far, and for bringing their stories (and your own) to life in your posts.
