An embodied spiral

Snail 0497

As you heard in the last two posts, on July 29th I was on a photography outing in a sump on the southeast corner of Dessau Rd. and Wells Branch Parkway on the Blackland Praire in northeast Austin. That’s a lot of prepositional phrases beginning with on (4) and in (3), but speaking of on, on one part of the property I noticed a lot of snails that had climbed up on various plants. Here’s one of them for you to gaze on.

It occurs to me now that this snail has a color scheme similar to the one in the feather you saw here last month. What the snail lacks in iridescence it makes up for with its spiral.
