Coral honeysuckle flower

If the previous post left you wondering what kind of flower emerges from the long bud of a coral honeysuckle, Lonicera sempervirens, here’s the answer.

Date: December 4, 2013.  Place: the Arbor Walk Pond in north-central Austin.  As I mentioned last time, coral honeysuckle is normally a spring-flowering species, but I found this one blooming in December.
