Drying basket-flower as camouflage
On one of the drying basket-flowers, Centaurea americana, that I’d stopped to photograph on June 13 in a ditch on the the east side of Burnet Rd. just south of the old Merrilltown Cemetery, I caught a glimpse of this tan grasshopper.
And now I’m reminded that I found a different (and most would say more attractive and unusual) insect in the same place last year. You’re welcome to climb into the Portraits of Wildflowers time machine and go back to see it.
