Dense woods

March 1st here was a beautiful sunny day, so I wended my way down to McKinney Falls State Park, where the land still mostly had the lost-leaves look that characterizes even our mild winters. Based on this picture, I think you’ll agree that woods in Texas can be really dense. As scraggly as these trees are, though, notice the small bits of color scattered throughout, some of it due to lichens.
