Bluebonnet forming
Another fuzzy thing I found at the Bullas’ place on February 24th was an early and lone bluebonnet, Lupinus texensis, that was beginning to blossom. The Spanish name for this wildflower, by the way, is conejo, which means rabbit; look at the soft top of the inflorescence and you may see what prompted that name.
Lupinus texensis is one of five species of bluebonnet that are collectively the state flower of Texas.
