A very slender thread

You may have to look carefully to see it, but there it is, diagonal, a strand of spider silk holding a fallen and already curling little leaf of snow-on-the-prairie, Euphorbia bicolor, which kept swinging and twirling in the slight breeze. If you look carefully again, going up the right edge of the photograph is the faint vertical trace of a red stalk of this plant or one of its fellows. I think you’ll agree that this minimalist view of snow-on-the-prairie is nothing like the complex one you saw yesterday. It’s also from a different date and place: September 28 near the intersection of E. 51st St. and US 183.
